Invest in Your Emotional Health

Therapy is an investment in the emotional health of your family.

Private Pay

At Mallard Creek Counseling, we recognize that paying for your services out-of-pocket (private pay) may not be ideal.  Many clients choose to use insurance to help cover the cost of therapy, but there are advantages and disadvantages to using insurance versus private pay.  The obvious advantage to using insurance is that the client has fewer upfront expenses.  There are, however, several advantages to choosing private pay.

  • Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis before they cover the costs of therapy.  When clients pay out-of-pocket, there is no diagnosis required, and no corresponding hindrance or stigma for you or your child.

  • Clients who choose private pay can be certain that their privacy is protected.  Insurance companies have access to your information, which means confidentiality is no longer strictly between counselor and client.

  • Finding a therapist that is the perfect fit for you or your child is important to developing a successful therapeutic relationship.  When you use insurance to pay for services, you are often required to choose from a list of providers, which limits your ability to choose.  Private pay allows you to choose a therapist you trust, or perhaps someone who was personally recommended to you.

Insurance

We are in network with Blue Cross and Blue Shield.  We are out of network with all other providers.

If you choose to use your insurance to cover the cost of therapy for out- of- network, we can provide you with a comprehensive billing statement that can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement.  It is important for you to contact your insurance company to check on your out-of-network benefits.

The following questions will help you determine what your insurance will cover:

  • Do I have mental health insurance benefits?

  • What is my deductible and has it been met?

  • How many sessions per year will my insurance plan cover?

  • What is the coverage amount per session?

  • Do I need a referral from my primary care physician?

Rates

  • Our rates are dependent on the type of services you request.

  • Typically, services range from $125 to $250.

  • We encourage you to reach out to your insurance company to inquire about out-of-network benefits.  We will provide a detailed superbill for possible reimbursement.

Payment Options

Mallard Creek Counseling accepts cash, credit cards, and Health Savings Accounts for payment.

Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

Mallard Creek Counseling has a 24-hour cancellation policy.  We ask that you give us a full 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment.  For Monday appointments we require notice by 5pm on Friday. In the case of a no show or last-minute cancellation, your credit card will be charged the full amount. For cancellations less than 24 hours in advance, if the appointment can be rescheduled with the counselor within the same week a rescheduling fee of half the full session may be used. These fees are NOT covered by insurance.
